About musahar

Musahar is a business that sells uniquely designed cushions made entirely from ecological materials. But they are also special in another way: Their production is based in a tiny village in Nepal where Musahar has set up production facilities and employ the local women. The goal is not only to make a viable business, but also to empower women who come from poverty.("It is known for jute," said the woman on the left side of his friend on Nepali 'no, it's' sisnu' "( nettle) I have to tell her about)

Musahar is a small Danish I/S company owned by designer Karen Bagge and manager Anne Mette Nordfalk. Anne Mette has lived in Nepal for 2 years and has a communication back ground and Karen is educated at a women’s wear designer at Royal college of Art, and has visited Nepal twice.

Supply chain:
Musahar buys its fabric from a company in Kathmandu, this company weaves the fabric and has it dyed. The two main fabrics are ”allo-cotton” which is a blend of Nettle and cotton – this material is from far western Nepal. The other main fabric is organic cotton, the thread is bought from India and woven in Nepal. The cotton is dyed with plants by a local NGO.
